Count Down To Doomsday - The Novelization of the Movie's Remake

Most anyone who knows our group, understands that through the years we have played a lot of settings and we rotate though them fairly frequently.

Anyone who has known us for long enough, also knows that back in the long ago year of 2015, we played a version of the story "Count Down To Doomsday", which was adapted from the various versions of the video game of the same name.

I have always loved the video game, and thought that so much more could be done with the story; or a more interactive world. So years before I moved back to Pittsburgh, when I discovered Savage Worlds (Explorer's Edition at the time) I could not help but use Buck Rogers as my first back drop.

Buck Rogers - Count Down To Doomsday, was my only exposure to the world of Buck Rogers as a kid as the serialized TV show had been off air a good long time. I didn't know a lot about it, other than the fact that it was a strategy RPG set in a Science fiction world as opposed to a Fantasy setting, which was not all that common.

As I got older and got into roleplaying, I learned of the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rules made for Buck Rogers and I thought they were amazing. Finding those books, as they had lived on as PDFs in various dark corners of the internet, was challenging, but we eventually got a complete set.

Long story short, the setting is one that I love to visit, especially now because it feels so wonderfully designed and thought out. The people who did the world building, for the most part, seemed to be very educated individuals who had a tempered view of where our technology would go. What they ended up with is affectionally now called "Rocket Punk", but at the time felt very "hard" sci-fi.

Using the AD&D source books as a starting point, myself and a bunch of friends have continued to develop the Savage worlds version of the setting for the past 15 years or so. Most recently we played an adventure in the deeper parts of the Solar System that left me wanting to spend more time in the setting.

Looking around at our current group, I realized that no one at the table had played Count Down To Doomsday before, so I thought it was a perfect time to blow the dust off the adventure and give it another go. Two weeks ago, we started and we are already having a blast with it once more.

If you keep coming here, I intend to get each weeks session documented and readable. I hope you enjoy reading about the exploits of our adventuring group as much as we enjoy playing through it.
